Description
Yesyes, here she is in colourful glory, my dear Domino! Plus some details about her design on the side there. Domino is something called a Demi-Guardian, and her affinity is with Digital Energy. I worked a lot of stuff in her design to reflect that.
For example, her twintails look kinda like lightning bolts, she has a power button belt buckle, the buttons on her mini hoodie are based on the old SNES buttons, and on the palms of her hands are little... energy pools. Her boots have some interesting multi-purpose qualities. It's notable that she really likes electronic music, as well, since some parts of her design reflect that too! Domino is a lot of fun. She's one of my faves out of all my OCs.

Domino is the main character in a story I’ve been working on for a couple of years now. Domino is something I call a Demi-Guardian. I could spend a long time explaining the story of the Guardians as context (because Domino’s story is technically a branch of a much larger story that I’ve been working on for 7 years now), but I’ll save that for another time [[Note: you can read more about my Guardian story HERE.]] The important thing to know about Guardians is that they are basically people with a strong affinity for a certain type of essential energy, who die between the ages of 10 and 20, and are resurrected by using the energy for which they have an affinity.
In Domino’s case, this energy is Digital energy, making Domino a Digital Demi-Guardian (nice alliteration right?). Demi-Guardians are sort of illegitimate Guardians, in a sense. Normally Guardians are taken in by the spirits of the universe and transformed into a form of pure energy, but Demi-Guardians are brought back by some other means, and don’t make a full transformation. What this means is that, though Domino is still in a regular old mortal human body, her blood is laced with Digital energy. It’s what keeps her alive now. And though this allows her to have some cool powers, particularly manipulating digital technology, she must be very careful not to use her powers too much. One of the downsides to being a Demi-Guardian is that human bodies are not meant to contain energy like that. Overusing her powers could cause Domino serious damage, and in the most extreme case, could literally melt her.
Even before becoming a Demi-Guardian, Domino was a giant nerd really good with tech. She always had a knack for it, partially having to do with her affinity. She plays a heck of a lot of video games. She has a deep love for music, particularly of the electronic variety (though she listens to a lot of orchestrated stuff too), and she occasionally makes her own music. It’s a real passion of hers.
It’s… kind of important that Domino is discovering and indulging in her passions, because for a long time she was afraid to. She was bullied in elementary school, and it caused her to stop believing in herself, believing she was good enough or allowed to like the things she likes. She began to withdraw from others because they would judge her. Her cousin Quinn, who was about a year older than her, realized the pain she was going through and decided to step in, becoming her dearest friend, encouraging her, and helping her find her confidence in herself again. Domino is now unapologetically herself.
This story doesn’t really stay so happy though. And, interestingly, it turns out a Demi-Guardian’s energy and mind can be temporarily ripped from their body and into another medium where it can be sustained (*cough* such as a computer).
